Alleged P&ID scam: Court revokes Briton’s bail, orders his arrest

A Federal High Court in Abuja yesterday revoked the N100 million bail granted a Briton and = director in the Process and Industrial Development Limited (P&ID), James Nolan.

In a ruling, Justice Ahmed Mohammed issued a bench warrant against Nolan.

The judge ordered that the British national should be arrested by security agencies, including the Interpol, anywhere he is sighted within or outside Nigeria and be produced in court to stand his trial.

“As far as this court is concerned, the absence of the second defendant (Nolan) in court implies he has jumped bail.

“The bail is hereby recalled and a bench warrant is issued against the second defendant,” Justice Mohammed ruled.

The judge also directed that the surety and a retired civil servant living in Gwagwalada area of Abuja, Mr. George Kadiri, should appear in court on the next adjourned date to show cause why his bail bond should not be forfeited.

The judge consequently adjourned the matter until November 3 for hearing.

The judge gave the order following an oral application made by counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Bala Sanga.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the anti-graft agency had, on August 18, 2020, arraigned Nolan before Justice Mohammed.

While Lurgi Consult Limited is the first defendant, Nolan is the second defendant in the matter.
