Two persons have died while four others were injured when a car conveying them rammed into a truck at Iyana Egbado stretch of Lagos – Abeokuta expressway.
The accident, which occurred around 0605 am hours on Independence Day, involved a Nissan Cabster marked KTU142XH and a Mack truck having T-12736LA as its registration number.
The Superintendent Route Commander and Public Education Officer for Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC ), Ogun Sector Command, Florence Okpe, attributed the cause of the accident to “excessive speed and road obstruction.”
Okpe in a statement on behalf of the Sector Commander, Umar Ahmed, said the Nissan car rammed into the truck which had issue over a flat tyre.
She explained the injured victims were taken to State General Hospital Ifo while the remains of the dead were deposited at the morgue of the same hospital.
She quoted the Sector Commander as commiserating with the family of the victims and enjoined them to contact FRSC Itori Command for more information about it and advised motorists to avoid indiscriminate parking of vehicles by road side and if there was a break down.
