OJODU Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State has donated N1 million to victims of Ogba Plank Market.
Council Chairman, David Odunmbaku, said this would cushion effect of the fire that engulfed the market.
Odunmbaku also gave out Point-on-Sale (POS) machines and cash to traders.
He donated N1 million to Ikeja Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) to procure a utility bus.
The council partnered Adedeji Awolola Foundation to present N500,000 cheques and consolation prizes worth N1 million to teachers.
According to him, 200 students received free GCE forms while those in higher institution were given scholarship and bursary.
These were part of activities to mark Odunmbaku’s one year in office.
He also handed over official vehicles to the legislators.
Odunmbaku said his administration would improve the standard of living through economic and financial support.
He also organised a training on empowerment, skill acquisition and Information Communication Technology (ICT) among others.
Odunmbaku thanked youths and members of his administration.
He also opened Oke-Ira Central Primary Health Care Centre (PHC) in Apata Oke-Ira, with an ambulance.
Meeting with captains of industry, he stressed the need for synergy between public and private sectors to surmount challenges.
“Since inception of our administration, we have been working to better the standard of living of our people in Ojodu LCDA through the HEYS agenda (Health, Education, Youth empowerment and Social Infrastructure) with meagre resources at our disposal… But with help and subventions the private sector, we would build a society of our dreams,’’ Odunmbaku said.
