Parks Administration stops ‘Abuja levy’, others

Oba Sulaimon Adeshina-Ashade

Chairman of Caretaker Committee for Lagos State Parks Administration, Oba Sulaimon Adeshina-Ashade, yesterday, abolished the Abuja levy and daily levy paid by members of dissolved unions and affiliates under his organisation.

Oba Adeshina-Ashade, who is the Oniba of Iba in Alimosho Local Government, also fixed N20,000 as a weekly levy, comprising N18,000 levy and N2,000 running cost, as against the “arbitrary and exorbitant” daily fees members paid.

The monarch was recently elected to the organisation’s Caretaker Committee following dissolution of Road Transport Employees Association of Nigeria (RETEAN) in the state.

The monarch, who spoke at a stakeholder meeting in Akesan, in Alimosho, urged aggrieved members of the dissolved unions and affiliates, including tricycle associations, to give peace a chance

“There can be no progress and comfort without peace, hence the need to forgive one another…” he said.

The chairman emphasised that the focus of his leadership is “comfort for all”, based on an organised transporta system in Lagos, members’ wellbeing and affordable fare…’’

Adeshina-Ashade urged zonal chairmen yet to remit last month’s proceeds to do so, as his leadership would not condone misconduct.
