OGUN Central senatorial candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2023 elections, Alhaji Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, has described teachers as moulders of character and barometer for societal development.
Salisu, who felicitated teachers as they mark the 2022 World Teachers’ Day, said they are the invaluable cornerstone for national rebirth and development.
He stressed the importance of teachers as purveyors of knowledge.
Salisu, a former Chief of Staff to the governor, said: “The nation owes a debt of gratitude to teachers for the heroic roles they play in national life. They are permanently on duty for the welfare, wellness, and wellbeing of the nation…
“I owe my achievements to the benevolence of Almighty God, the disciplined and caring parenting, and efforts of my teachers.”
He said his participation in all alumni associations of his alma mater has been inspired by the need to work with others to recognise, appreciate, and honour his teachers.
“When I am elected as a senator, by the grace of God, I will improve welfare of teachers in the country and restore the glorious days when teachers occupied a prime position,” he said.
