Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem has expressed joy after Hajdut Split fans and supporters chanted his name following his last minute strike against NK Varazdin in the Croatian topflight last weekend.
In the final moments of the game, Awaziem scored in the ninth minute of added time to deliver three points in a hard-fought victory against Varazdin at Poljud.
Awaziem said he and his teammates were lifted by the massive support throughout the match.

“Honestly, I’m very happy, it’s hard for me to describe what I feel, but believe me, it’s fantastic,” Awaziem told the club’s official website.
“I am happy that I helped the team to win, this is what I want, Hajdut that always wins, and I am here to do my best. Hearing the whole stadium shouting my name was a great feeling.
“They supported us until the very end of the game, they are excellent and I want to thank them for everything – said after the match the stopper of the Whites, for whom this was the third goal for Hajduk,”he added.
With the result, Hajdut Split remain in second spot with 23 points from 11 games.
