As part of efforts to reduce the rate of unemployment in Nigeria, a non-governmental organisation, Hovasabee Youth and Women Foundation, has unveiled plans to train 20 youths in information technology (IT).
A statement by its founder, Love Aludo, said the “intensive online study programme” will last for two months, beginning from October 15.
Aludo said the training would provide opportunity for those who wanted to make a “career switch”, as well as encourage those seeking reskilling, which had become a trend in the post-COVID-19.
The statement listed the courses to include Coding, Software Engineering, Digital Marketing, Machine Learning, Data Engineering, Data Analytics, Python, SQL, among others.

“Hovasabee Youth and Women Foundation is one of the organisations encouraging IT learning and making it accessible for 20 participants, who will get certifications from Google, IBM, University of Pennsylvania, University of California and more globally recognised institutions of I.T. learning and skills acquisition.
“Registration for interested young people between the ages of 16 to 45 is on https://tinyurl.com/HovaTech
“This programme is completely free and students are encouraged to have a laptop they can use during the training.
“In future, the foundation may be able to offer laptops to facilitate the learning process, as many students, who have registered, indicated lack of access to a computer as an obstacle to their upskilling,” the statement said.
