Federal Government’s COVID-19 cash transfer programme for the poor has boosted livelihoods of vulnerable families in Lagos State.
Commissioner for Wealth Creation, Mrs Yetunde Arobieke, said the support was in line with the state’s blueprint on mitigating impacts of COVID-19 and to strengthen resilience of residents.
She spoke at the opening of NG-Cares cash transfer facilitators enrolment training.
Mrs Arobieke said residents most impacted by the disease were assisted to access food and sources of income, while the state rehabilitated producers who experienced losses.

She said Federal Government’s Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT), in partnership with World Bank under National Social Safety Nets Project (NASSP), gave beneficiaries N10,000.
Arobieke said the state’s beneficiaries had received stipends since 2020, and were further trained on capacity-building through Savings & Group Mobilisation (SGM).
State Coordinator of the Cash Transfer Unit, Mrs. Orimoogunje Korede, said the government was helping residents by strengthening agriculture and providing social protection for rural and marginalised communities.
