121 get first class as ABUAD graduates 1,673

One hundred and twenty-one students will graduate with first class at the 12th anniversary and 10th convocation of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD).

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Smaranda Olarinde, made this known yesterday while addressing reporters ahead of the convocation scheduled for Friday.

She said of the 1, 673 students expected to graduate, 225 would be awarded post graduate degrees and 1,448 would receive bachelor’s degree in disciplines.

Olarinde added that 666 students would graduate in second class upper division, 489 in second class lower division and 70 got third class.

She said honorary doctoral degrees would be conferred on former Ekiti State governor, Segun Oni, human rights and constitutional lawyer, Mike Ozekhome, SAN and Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Garba El-kanemi in recognition of their impact in the society.

Olarinde said the three personalities were selected in compliance with the popular 2012 Keffi Declaration after a thorough, rigorous, as well as merit-based selection process.
