Regular and effective handwashing is panacea to a germ-free environment, Project Director of Community WASH initiatives, Mrs. Sanni Anibire, has said.
She spoke at St. Peter’s Anglican School in Ikeja, during 2022 Global Handwashing Day organised by Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources.
Global Handwashing Day is celebrated every October 15. This year’s theme is Unite for Universal Hand Hygiene.
Anibire noted that children must be sensitised to be ambassadors of handwashing to prevent germs and sickness.

“It is better to catch them young, help them to imbibe handwashing, so they can spread the news to their parents, peers, and relatives.
“We urge the government to provide facilities while the school monitors the practice.”
Permanent Secretary (Office of Drainage Services) in the ministry, Olalekan Shodeinde, told the pupils to become agents of positive change.
He said the sensitistion was to reiterate the need for people to work together and inspire changes.
