‘Why we introduced community marketing’

Chairman of Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area, Muibi Alade Folawiyo, has said he introduced Sanwo-Olu Community Marketing to subsidise prices.

Folawiyo, speaking at the fourth edition, said the initiative was to cushion the effect of rising food prices.

“Since inception of the community market last year, we have improved our services and it keeps getting better… Our goal is to keep reaching out to people, serve and bring them succour.”

The council chief said the products on sale were of high quality and subsidised to make them affordable at a cheaper rate.

Some of the goods include garri, polished rice, noodles, yam, palm oil, vegetable oil, beans, beef, chicken, eggs.

Folawiyo appealed to residents to be orderly “because there were surplus products on sale to serve everyone present.”
