Christian Ministries Welfare Initiative (CMWI) and leaders of affiliates groups have endorsed All Progressives Congress (APC) standardbearer Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Global President and Unification Superintendent, Apostle Aderemi Adebiyi, said this was based on faith and conviction.

He said: “We took a decision of faith and conviction that define us as leaders of different denominations in Christian community.

“It’s obvious the Muslim-Muslim ticket of APC has generated backlashes and debates … with all sincerity of purpose, the ticket is perceived as unfavourable to the Christian community.

“Many Christians used to the conventional pairing between Christians and Muslims now perceived this as a departure from the norm, hence see it as a setback. Nevertheless, we believe in Tinubu’s competence and experience to lead the country… ”

Adebiyi noted that they endorsed Tinubu after consultations with Christian groups and affiliates of CMWI, including Bishop League, Youth Pastors Forum, Christians Workers Fellowship of Nigeria, and Women of Faith Society of Nigeria.

“Our respectable leader, Cardinal John Onaiyekan, opined on APC’s choice is a political decision to ensure victory in 2023 election, while our PFN president also advised us to vote for our conscience and whoever we feel has the capacity to solve the problem of Nigeria, irrespective of tribe or religion’’, he said

“This has been an eye opener to us as a group while we took a critical decision to formally adopt and make declaration towards next year’s presidential election in support of Asiwaju Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate.

“This is a commitment we agreed to as a group with all intents and purposes as we are poised to continue to support this with prayers for peaceful conduct of the forthcoming general election.”
