Flood has sacked my community- Muma Gee

Flood

Popular singer Gift Iyumame aka Muma Gee has called on the Federal Government, international community and multinational companies in Rivers State to come to the aid of her people of Ahoada east local government as flood has ravaged their ancestral homes.

An emotional Muma Gee made her plea at the international airport in Lagos where she was meant to travel to Ethiopia for an event but couldn’t after she received the devastating news.

She said: “In fact, in my community, homes were submerged in water, properties worth millions of dollars and regrettably too many parents were helpless as they lost small children to the disastrous flood.

“As I speak with you right now, I’ve been informed that the entire communities surrounding Ahoada East local government area of Rivers State have been sacked by flood with families displaced as they all scramble for safety.”

Continuing she said: ” Upon arriving Lagos yesterday, en route Ethiopia for an event, I began receiving streams of calls from distraught family members who broke the news to me and I had since been uncomfortable and can’t seem to focus.
Right now, those at various camp centres and open fields are going through hell; no food, no medication, no water and life has been so deplorable for them; I am still confused as to how I can deal with this current situation but I definitely can’t deal with it alone.”

She however appreciated Governor Nyesom Wike for his prompt intervention by releasing N1b to cushion the painful effect of the people of Ahoada.
