He attributed the cause of the accident to driving against traffic by the truck driver.

“According to witness account, the Volvo White truck was driving in a direction prohibited by traffic law, route violation/one-way, inbound Abeokuta, on high speed, before it lost control and ran into the Nissan-Micra taxi, in an head-on collision, which led to the death of 3 passengers in the taxi immediately, due to the impact of the collision while the 4th dead victim died in the hospital (FMC) later.

“It was later confirmed that the four passengers in Nissan-Micra taxi, who lost their lives in the avoidable ghastly auto crash, are workers of DAHUA PAPER MILLS, inside Obasanjo Farms, Obada, and were on their way to work when the incident happened.

“However, an angry mob later caught up with the driver of the Volvo White truck and set it ablaze, but the driver ran away.

“While TRACE commiserate with families of the deceased,  articulated vehicle drivers are again cautioned against excessive speed and route aviation in view of it’s attendant consequences,” he said.
