Fresh from the engrossing Kano international polo tournament and the prestigious 2022 Yola polo Festival, the glamorous national polo tour is heading to the north central where three blockbuster polo tourneys are loading in Kaduna and Minna before the train heads to Abuja for the Carnival polo fiesta in early December.
The back-to-back polo festivals galloped off yesterday with the Kaduna Mini Polo Tournament and it would climax October 30 at the foremost Murtala Square in the centre of the city.
Further checks also revealed that the five-day tourney would feature mostly Kaduna-based teams with Profile Group, and Trappco Ranch. Four medium-goals teams are battling for the medium-goal Cup and equally matched teams jostle for the low-goal prize.
From Murtala Square, the train will move to Fifth Chukker Polo & Country Resort for this year’s Emir of Zazzau African Patron Cup polo extravaganza
The international polo fiesta which is part of the global campaign for Breast Cancer awareness would be held between November 1 and 6.
No fewer than ten polo teams would be jostling for two trophies as the Pink polo tournament gallops off at the Fifth Chukker Polo & Country club, Kaduna as teams are drawn for the medium-goal General Hassan Cup and the high-goal Patrons Cup.

For the past years, this event has also lent itself as a high-profile sporting platform to promote breast cancer awareness, especially in Northern Nigeria.
Thereafter from the Pink Polo thrills in Kaduna, polo buffs would head to Niger State as the Power State bubbles with the 2022 Minna Polo Tournament.
Minna Polo Captain, Jamilu King confirmed that the earlier postponed fiesta will gallop off with fanfare from November 8 to 12 at the legendary IBB Sports Complex, with the highly revered IBB Cup leading the pack of four major prizes at stake.
King listed other major prizes including the Governor’s Cup, Emir of Minna Cup and Talban Minna Trophy. Others are the Abdulsalami Cup, General Hassan Katsina Cup, Kere Ahmed Cup, among others.
Minna Tournament Committee Chairman, Mohammad Babangida confirmed the readiness of the Minna Polo Club to host the glamorous polo fiesta that is one of the most attended polo tournaments in the country.
“We have also lined up a handful of individual awards and subsidiary cups are on offer for the winning teams, the Runners-up, and players who distinguished themselves during the fiesta,” Babangida added.
Last year, many times defending champions, El-Amin and Profile teams clinched three of the four major prizes at stake. El-Amin extended their dominance with another back-to-back, retaining the IBB Cup and adding the Abdulsalami Cup to remain the kings of Minna polo.
