Falana: join struggle to rescue Nigeria

Human rights lawyer Femi Falana has urged Nigerians to join the struggle to rescue the nation from its current situation.

He said this would not be achieved unless dedicated Nigerians took their political destinies in their hands.

Speaking at the 4th convocation of Augustine University, Ilara-Epe, Lagos State, Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), lamented that one of the challenges facing the nation was that it was being ruled by politicians without principle and character, hence the need to vote for competent and capable leaders to be at the helm in 2023.

In his lecture titled: “Remaking Nigeria: The Youth as Change-Agents”, Falana said for Nigeria to survive and be useful to its citizens, Africa and humanity, the nation needed to be remade.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Christopher Odetunde, urged the graduating students not be complainers but to be in the forefront of helping the nation to take transformative steps towards development.

He said the university was resolute in dealing with indiscipline such as cheating, examination malpractices, moral decadence, wilful destruction of university property, drug abuse, cultism and behaviour that might tarnish the image and reputation of the institution.
