Five people were shot yesterday in Ikirun, the headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government of Osun State, during protest against the appointment of Akirun of Ikirun, Prince Yinusa Akadiri.
Akadiri was announced as the new monarch by the Osun State Government on Wednesday night after the weekly executive council meeting.
The Nation gathered that after the announcement of Akadiri, protest erupted in the town, as some members of the aggrieved ruling houses and residents attacked one another, protesting the appointment.

Protesters went on the rampage as they made bonfires on major streets of the town, paralysing commercial activities.
A resident told our correspondent that police and Amotekun operatives later quelled the protest.
Confirming the incident, police spokesperson Yemisi Opalola said five persons were shot during the incident.
