Terror alert: Buhari to meet Security chiefs

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari will today meet Service chiefs on the security situation in the country, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, said last night.

The emergency parley is to douse the tension generated by the alert threats issued by the United States (U.S.), the United Kingdom (UK) and other Western countries through their embassies in Nigeria.

In their advisories, the countries cautioned their citizens against travelling to some states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), because of alleged terror threats.

The threat alerts set off panic in the FCT, forcing businesses and other activities to shut down.

In a statement, Shehu said the President has called the emergency security meeting for this morning, setting aside earlier scheduled national events, including the inauguration of an nfrastructure built by the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI).

Shehu said in the statement: “President Muhammadu Buhari will on Monday meet with security chiefs in the nation’s capital, Abuja, to further review and strengthen security network in the country.

“The President, who was initially scheduled to commission the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) new Technology and Innovation Complex, will receive briefs from the security chiefs, and interject on areas that need more attention.

“The commissioning of the NASENI complex will hold on a later date.”
