The women wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by wives of the party’s presidential candidate and his running mate, Senator Oluremi Tinubu and Hajiya Fatima Shettima, has donated N20 million, foodstuffs and clothing to victims of flood disaster in Yobe State.

Senator Remi Tinubu said the gesture was meant to cushion the hardship suffered by victims of the natural disaster.

The senator representing Lagos Central spoke when she and Hajiya Shetimma led a high-powered delegation, including the wives of Zamfara and Kogi state governors, to the state.

The team also visited Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, and the Emir of Damaturu, Alhaji Shehu Hashimi Umar El-Kanemi.

Senator Tinubu told Governor Buni that they were in the state to commiserate with the residents over the flood disaster that ravaged many communities across the state.

She said: “We are in Yobe State to sympathise and deliver relief materials to the victims of the recent flood disaster that affected many parts of the state.”

The wife of Asiwaju Tinubu hailed the Yobe State government for managing the disaster through early response and providing succour to the victims.

Governor Buni praised the wives of the APC presidential and vice presidential candidates for visiting the state and identifying with the people of the state.

“Your visit today gives the people of Yobe State a sense of belonging at such a critical trying moment.

“On behalf of the good people of Yobe State, I sincerely thank and appreciate your goodwill and generous donation to the people of the state,” Buni said.
