The Atayero of Aramoko Ekiti, Olusegun Aderemi has said the upgrading of monarchs and autonomy granted some villages in Ekiti State will bring development.
Aderemi advised governments to equip and empower journalists, saying they can assist in solving challenges confronting the nation.
He said the state did well by upgrading traditional rulers and granting autonomy to some.
Aderemi spoke shortly after he was conferred with the award of excellence of the Roundoff News Media and Consult in Ado Ekiti.
He said: ” As an expert in cultural heritage management, I believe our culture should be preserved… I believe in development and it can come in any form but it should be managed properly to avoid crisis”.
On involvement of journalists, he said ” journalism is all about information, knowledge, safety and act of expression. Nigerian journalists are concerned, they are doing their best and they can do more to solve most of our problems.
“Insecurity in Nigeria is all about lack of intelligence gathering and good journalism is about intelligence.
“So, if government can embrace and equip journalists, it will boost our intelligence gathering…’’ he said.
Setting agenda for Governor Biodun Abayomi, the oba said he expect the governor to make a difference.
“In Ekiti State, we are not enterprising. The governor should do more for enterprise. Once we develop our knowledge on enterprising, it will bring about profitable activities.
