ADAMAWA State has released N1.3 billion contract variation for completion of township roads in Jimeta.
Dr Umar Pella, commissioner for Information and Strategy, told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Yola yesterday.
He said the approval for release of the amount was part of the 12th Executive Council resolutions, saying the roads had reached completion stage.
He noted that the contract, awarded to Batco Construction Company, was to be completed in 18 months at the initial N5.8 billion.
According to him, the variation followed after evaluation, coupled with change in cost of materials due to decrease in value of the naira.
“The council has considered to vary pending projects with N1.3 billion to enable the completion,” he said.
“With variation of the contract to N1.3 billion from the initial N5.8 billion, the sum now stood at N7.17 billion.
“The length of the projects is 17.3 kilometres,” he said.
“We give the contractor additional 12 months period to complete the projects,” Pella said.
