Centre advises youths on careers

GLORIOUS Islamic Centre (GIC) has enlightened youths on opportunities in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Agricultural Entrepreneurship.

Speaking at the 11th yearly career lectures for pupils from Muslim schools in Lagos, GIC President, Akin Laguda, said this enlightenment would enable youths show interest in their careers.

He said pupils were future leaders and innovators; they need to access knowledge to help them succeed.

Laguda noted that education needs to move with the times, which is why GIC organises Career Day every year to educate and provide opportunities to pupils.

“We educate them on drone technology to let pupils know the usefulness and application of drones. Likewise agriprenureship to let them know how to leverage agriculture,” he said.

He urged the government to invest more in IT technology, as this would help the country develop.

“This has to start from school. A substantial fund should be allocated to technology,” he added.

Guest speaker, Kadijat Olewadegun, while enlightening on drone technology, its application and use, advised the puplis to harness opportunity in AI.

“Drones are used by individual entrepreneurs, SMEs, and large companies to accomplish various tasks. We can actually use it as surveillance in information gathering or tracking. As Muslims, we must not relent, we must harness new technologies as the world moves fast with technology,” Oluwadegun said.

“Technology proffers solutions to many problems, it broadens the heart. There are many areas in life that we can apply Artificial Intelligence.”

Assistant Lecturer in Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture, AbdulRasak Bashorun, while delivering a lecture on agricultural entrepreneurship, said adding value to agriculture products increase the value of commodities.

Bashorun urged youths to tap into enormous lucrative opportunities in agric business.
