Zamfara begins donation of food items to vulnerable

The governor of Zamfara State, Bello Muhammad, has flagged-off the distribution of over 10,730 assorted food items to vulnerable people in the state.

This was made known in statement signed by the Director-General, Press Affairs, Deputy Governor’s Office, Comrade Babangida Umar Zurmi.

According to the statement, the governor who was represented by his deputy, Senator Hassan Muhammad during the initiative said: “The provisions of food items to the vulnerable and those affected by the recent flooding is a positive gesture of relieving the affected persons of their hardship.”

Muhammad enjoined the beneficiaries to make good use of the items given to them and called for total compliance with the laid-down regulations during the distributions.

He assured the Federal Government, agencies concerned and monitoring organisations that the state government would ensure proper application of equity procedures in the distribution of the commodities, and directed the Executive Secretary, ZEMA Alhaji Mustapha Ahmad Gummi to ensure judicious conduct of the task.

While appreciating President Muhammadu Buhari for the initiative, the Deputy Governor also commended the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs Hajiya Sadiya Umar Faruk for giving the required attention to the state government’s request in that direction.
