A Professor of Social Studies, Curriculum Studies and Educational Evaluation, Prof. Babatunde Adeyemi, has called on the Federal Government to make social studies compulsor.
The expert, who spoke while delivering the 366th inaugural lecture of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, said social studies was a problem solver discipline, which inculcated desirable social habits, attitude and values for the survival of society.
Adeyemi noted that studying social studies proffer solutions to human challenges – social, economic psychological, environmental and political, among others, in a holistic approach; and by training to help humanity in resolving problems.
