Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Bauchi Police Command said it has deployed officers to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) facilitie to checkmate criminal activities.

The outgoing Commissioner of Police, (CP) Umar Sanda, said the move was to provide a conducive atmosphere for a hitch-free political process.

He added that the deployments were aimed at keeping an eye on INEC materials, to prevent any attempt to undermine security around the facilities, and coordinate a timely response to distress calls.

Police spokesman Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, yesterday said the CP had also directed the Divisional police officers and their supervisory Area Commanders, to immediately ensure strategic deployment of officers at the INEC offices in their respective Areas of responsibility (AOR).

“The CP, while reiterating the constant deployments, ordered a total clamp down and prosecution of miscreants found around the INEC facilities. He warned political thugs across the state to steer clear and turn away from INEC facilities/materials as the command will not hesitate to decisively deal with  any erring persons who decide to dare this warning,” he said.
