The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has restrained the Police and the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) from arraigning the founding president of the Nigerian Shipowners Association (NISA), Chief Isaac Jolapamo, over alleged illegal possession of firearms.
Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa made the order following Jolapamo’s ex-parte application filed through his counsel, Mr. Femi Falana, SAN.
Jolapamo, 76, was scheduled to be brought on December 2, before Justice Yelim Bogoro, also of the Federal High Court in Lagos, on a three-count charge of alleged unlawful possession of guns preferred against him by the police.

But ruling on the November 1 motion, Justice Lewis-Allagoa directed the parties to maintain status quo pending the determination of another suit.
Falana had approached the court for an interim injunction restraining the respondents from arranging his client, via charge No. FHC/L/404C/22, pending the final determination of the originating motion.
Besides getting his prayer, Justice Allagoa also ordered that hearing notice be issued against and served on all the respondents.
He adjourned till November 24, for hearing.
In his affidavit in support of the suit, Jolapamo averred, among others, that the matter arose following a dispute with his wife over property.
