A gas and kerosene depot was on Sunday gutted by fire at No. 42 Eziowelle Street, behind Nkpor park, Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra.
Though no life was lost in the incident, there were however series of explosions within the area which nearly affected residential buildings around the scene.
The Nation gathered that some traders in the area usually hoarded fuel and kerosene there which they sell at black market prices.
Confirming the incident, Fire Chief, Engr. Martin Agbili said cause of the fire outbreak was unknown.
He said his men that arrived the scene shortly after the fire started were able to save all the residential buildings around the scene of fire.

He said, “At about 1225hrs (12:25pm) of today Sunday 20-11-2022, Anambra State Fire Service, received a distress call from the DPO of Ogidi Police Division, of fire outbreak at a gas and kerosene depot at No. 42 Eziowelle Street, behind Nkpor park, Nkpor.
“Immediately, we deployed our fire two fire trucks and brave firefighters to the fire scene for proper fire fighting operations.
“The cause of the fire outbreak was unknown as series of tank explosion were heard from the fire scene but there was no lost of life.
“With the mixture of our chemical foam compound we were able to extinguish and fought the fire to standstill.
“We were able to save all the residential buildings around the scene of fire without any casualty.
“We withdrew from the scene of fire at about 1430hrs (2:30pm).”
