A 30-year-old woman, Balaraba Shehu, and her 25-year-old lover, Amadu Sale alias Dan Kwairo have been arrested by the police for burying their newborn baby alive in Kiyawa Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
Police spokesman Lawan Shiisu said the command, on Friday, brought out the baby from a toilet where it was buried.

Shiisu said the suspect was arrested and the baby rushed to General Hospital Dutse where it was certified dead by a medical doctor.
Speaking further, Shilsu said preliminary investigation led to the arrest of Dan kwairo of Akar village in Kiyawa LGA, who was alleged to be responsible for the unwanted pregnancy.
Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Ekot Effiom, directed that the case be transferred to SCID Dutse, for further investigation.
