Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called for unity among sons and daughters of Awori in Lagos, Ogun, and Oyo states.
He spoke at the maiden Awori Cultural Festival: “Our Culture, Our Pride: The emergence of Aworis’ Oneness.”
Sanwo-Olu, who described the festival as an attestation to the economic, historical, and spiritual antecedents of the Awori, assured them of more development.
National President of Awori Welfare Association of Nigeria (AWAN), Asiwaju Ajibola Olagbaye, said the history of Ibadan and Ogbomoso would be incomplete without mentioning exploits of Awori.
Olagbaye noted the Awori were not only culturally linked to Lagos and Ogun but also instrumental to the making of Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
Olagbaye lauded Sanwo-Olu for his contributions.
He praised indigenes for ensuring their voice was not suppressed.
