•ADC presidential candidate urges Christians to emulate love of Christ
House of Representatives Deputy Chief Whip Nkeiruka Onyejeocha has urged Nigerians to embrace the spirit of giving.
She said this in her Christmas message to Christians across the country.
Onyejocha, who is the lawmaker representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency in Abia State, urged Nigerians to use the Yuletide season to reflect on our past and continue to love one another to sustain the gains of the past and secure a better future for all.
In a statement by her Social media aide, Nnenna Agbai, the lawmaker said: “This Christmas may look different for all of us, but we should use the time we spend during this period with our loved ones – in person or virtually and also with people around us – to celebrate the blessings of God for sparing our lives till this day.
“Let’s cherish, embrace the spirit of giving, and look out for one another as we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.
“Let it also be a season to reflect on our past as a people and continue to love one another to sustain the gains of the past and secure a better future for all.
“The last few years, especially the last few months, have tested our resolve as a people; yet, here we are in spite of the challenges. This is the dream of the founding fathers of our great nation who paid the price and laid the foundation for the country.
“Diversity is the natural order of life. And our country is blessed with endless opportunities that we can explore through our diversities. It’s our strength, and should be the bond that keeps us united.
“We do not exist outside of nature; we are very much of a piece. We must continue to play by the rules of nature and recognise that our diversity is our strength, and that when we appreciate one another as individuals or groups, we are empowered because we are aligned with nature.”
She added: “The Nigeria I know is full of people who are proud of their identity, full of courage, optimism, and ingenuity. They are hard-working in every part of the world. The Nigeria I know is decent and generous.”
Onyejeocha, who is currently in her home town in Abia State where she distributed food items to over 2,000 women on Christmas eve, is expected to continue consultations with members of her party in her constituency ahead of the February 2023 general election.
Also, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mr. Dumebi Kachikwu, has urged Christians to emulate Christ in showing love to others while celebrating Christmas.
Kachikwu said this in a statement yesterday in Abuja.
He noted that as Christians were celebrating Christmas, it was important for them to extend the love of Christ to others by sending gifts to friends and loved ones, especially to those of different faiths.
“As over 2 billion people across the world celebrate the birth of Christ, we are reminded of the reason for this season.
“His birth signified renewed hope for mankind in the possibility of a second chance.
“The birth of Christ was the beginning of a journey of love to redeem mankind.
“I urge all Christian faithful to remember and emulate the love of he who redeemed them because our nation is in dire need of love,” he said.
Kachikwu urged Nigerians to renew their hopes and faiths in project Nigeria, saying: “…This is what our faith calls for.
“The task of nation building can only be done with a heart of love and with faith and hope in a better tomorrow.”
The ADC presidential candidate stressed that Nigeria would only come alive “if everyone learnt to love each other and live peaceably with one another”.
