To make power supply more accessible in five communities in Epe in Eredo Local Government Area, the Lagos State Gvernment is upscaling the solar mini-grid in the area to two mega-watts.
It is a solar mini-grid developed by A4&T Power Solutions Limited, in partnership with Ikeja Electric Plc.
At the ground-breaking, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by Commissioner for Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Engr. Olalere Odusote, said the project was aimed at bridging the energy gap in state.
In a statement, the ministry’s Deputy Director, Public Affairs, Mrs Adetola ldowu, quoted the governor as saying: “The Lagos State Government, via its Off-grid Electrification Strategy and Action Plan, has set a target to achieve ~1GW of Solar PV generation by 2030.”
The governor listed its partners in the project as A4&T Power Solutions Limited and Ikeja Electric.
Also, Olalere re-emphasised the commitment of the administration in facilitating improved electricity supply.
He reiterated that the government would partner corporate entities to further promote and deepen sustainable off-grid electrification in the state.
The commissioner thanked A4&T Power Solutions Limited, and Ikeja Electric for their efforts towards improving electricity supply in the communities.
