Obasanjo, Mustapha, Dangote honour Mamora at 70

Secretary to Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha, former President Olusegun Obasanjo and business magnate Alhaji Aliko Dangote were among eminent Nigerians, who witnessed the 70th birthday of Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Sen. Olorunnimbe Mamora in Lagos yesterday.

The highlights of the events included the launching of ‘MEL Foundation’ and the celebrator’s bibliography.

Also at the Haven Event Centre, Ikeja, venue of the ceremony, were Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu,  represented by his deputy, Lucky Ayedatiwa, Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, Lagos White Cap chiefs, former Health Minister Prince Julius Adeluyi-Adelusi, businessman Femi Otedola, former Ogun State Governor Gbenga Daniel, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun, Lagos State Environment Commissioner Tunji Bello, Lagos State Deputy Speaker Wasiu Eshinlokun-Sanni,  former Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Commissioner Wale Ahmed, Dr. Leke Pitan, Femi Saheed, House of Representatives member Jide Jimoh and Hon. Bamgbose from Badagry Constituency.

The event was also witnessed by Danladi Bako, Sen. Babafemi Ojudu, Kenneth Agba, Prof. Toyin Ashiru, Kashim Afegbua, Kola Oyefeso, Louis Odion, and K. K. Elesin.

Daniel, Ogun East All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate, who represented the chairman of the occasion, Obasanjo, described Mamora as a first-class medical doctor and politician, “who works in the hearts of the people.”

He said Mamora’s father taught many eminent Nigerians, including Obasanjo, at Baptist Boys High School (BBHS), Abeokuta.

Daniel recalled that he had invited Mamora, when he was Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, to give a lecture at the Ogun State House of Assembly, saying the lawmakers of that period hailed his brilliance and experience.

He said: “We wanted him to come and be governor of Ogun State, but he did not harken to our call.”
