Unpaid poll stipends: IG confirms bank payment

IGP-Alkali

Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba, has urged officers yet to receive their election allowances to remain calm.

Baba spoke in Abuja at a meeting with police managers and management of defaulting banks responsible for the delay in payment.

A statement by Force spokesman,   Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said this was in furtherance of the IGP’s passion to address the alleged delay or non-payments of personnel’s election allowances.

Police Accountant and Budgets Department said  the banks had been credited as schedules of payment were dropped with banks, before February 25 poll.

The statement said commencement for payment of the second tranche for Saturday elections would be paid as from yesterday.

The Police had, last Friday, reaffirmed that non-payment should not be ascribed to it.

Adejobi said: “We are not unaware of antics of some mischief makers peddling false publications through their paid bloggers bent on dragging the Force in the mud for flimsy issues.”
