Chairman, Lagos State branch of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Olusesi Tolulope, has said that none of the gubernatorial candidates for the March 18, 2023 poll in Lagos is a match for the All Progressive Congress (APC), standard bearer, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.
Tolutope listed Sanwo-Olu’s achievements as Lagos governor between 2019- 2023, his roles in the restoration of education, and his human capital development, as qualities that make him tower above his rivals.
Some of his milestone achievements, he said, include, giving the state three world-class universities, the upgrade of the former Lagos State Polytechnic and Ogunsanya College of Education as Lagos State University of Education and University of Science and Technology, which are top-notch in the advancement of education in the state.
According to Tolulope, Governor Sanwo-Olu has approved a 100 percent increase in the annual bursary allowance payable to indigenes of the state who are studying in any tertiary institution worldwide.
Besides, he said further that before Sanwo-Olu assumed office, the sum of N195,000 had been approved as the tuition fee per student but was reduced by 65 percent by the governor to enable and ensure no student was denied acquiring education because of their poor backgrounds.
The NANS declaration for Sanwo-Olu’s second term in office took place at the student hostel Hall at the Lagos General Hospital, Ikeja.
The endorsement was well attended by state chairmen of NANS in Lagos State.
The Lagos NANS president who praised governor Sanwo-Olu for making education bedrock for development, therefore called on eligible Nigerian students with voters cards in Lagos, to go all out en mass to their polling units across the state to vote and support the man who is tested and trusted with the best plan for education in Lagos.
