The Ajegunle for Sanwo-Olu Support Group has taken its free medical services to Ojo, to sensitise the people on the importance of self-consciousness about their health.

Coordinator of the group, Dr Anne Okonma, said the medical outreach was part of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES agenda.

She said it was also aimed at making people aware of the innovations made in the health facilities.

“We are here to check their blood pressure, blood screening, hypertension, eye screening and dental check. We have a lot of laboratory tests going on; we are having free consultation and for cases that need to be referred, they will be referred to the nearby primary health care centres or the general hospitals,” Dr. Okonma said.

Okonma encouraged people to access the free health care services across all primary health care centres, reminding them of the availability of Ilera Eko, which is health insurance for indigenous people of Lagos State.

She urged the people to come out to show their support for Sanwo-Olu by re-electing him tomorrow.

Medical Officer of Health at Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Dr. Johnbosko Nwokeji, explained that the programme would give the community an opportunity to access basic health services and free drugs for those in need.

“Those that don’t need drugs will be fully aware of their health status and those that are hypertensive will be given basic drugs but they can follow up with the visit to the health centres or to the general hospital depending on the severity of their condition,” Dr. Nwokeji said.

The medical outreach had a good turnout, with many in attendance, including Abiola Ayorinde, who was delighted with the programme, especially the package that came with it.

“The drugs I was given I couldn’t afford to buy but once I heard there’s a free check-up, I hurriedly came here,” she said.
