Popular car reviewer, Akinwande Waris Olayinka, popularly known as Ola of Lagos has recounted his journey into car and other luxury property reviews.
The content creator who is also known for doing the analysis of the latest, luxury cars and items disclosed this recently in an interview with The Nation expressing that the search for greener pastures led him to Lagos State.
According to Ola of Lagos, he got to the commercial city without any relatives to live or depend on but he was ready to start from somewhere.
“I left my home town in Ogun State for Lagos believing that I will raise money substantial enough to start a business when I finally return.
“I first picked up a labourer’s job in the site assisting the building constructors to supply mixed building materials ready to be used. I was paid peanuts as wages but then it was enough to feed me and bear some other minor bills.
“I further accepted a cleaner’s job, it was by far an upgrade to other menial jobs I was doing,” the luxury guy narrated.
Ola of Lagos maintained that it was where he was working as a cleaner in Lekki that he knew that there are people that were obsessed with luxurious things as him, adding that the difference was just that they could afford them but he couldn’t.
Reacting to how he became a popular car and other luxury reviewer, Ola of Lagos said the proceeds from his wages were what he used to buy a phone to begin the review because he had passion for it.
“When I started my reviews, I got many negative comments but they didn’t weigh me down. I would beg the owners of the cars to let me take their pictures and videos. Upload them on my Instagram account and talk a little about them.
“I then advanced to going to car slots where most of these cars are sold, check-up for their reviews and do analyses that later for reactions and love from my fans.
“So, I was becoming very known, I added the review of other luxury items. Honestly, it’s been a very interesting journey for me and I thank God for where I am today,” Ola of Lagos added.
