•Extends hand of fellowship to SDP candidate Oni
Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji yesterday hailed the verdict of the Supreme Court that reaffirmed his election as the governor.
He described it as victory for democracy and the people of Ekiti State.
The apex court sitting in Abuja yesterday dismissed the petition of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate, Chief Segun Oni, challenging Oyebanji’s victory at the June 18, 2022 poll.
The governor, addressing reporters in Ado-Ekiti after laying the foundation of Nigeria Air Force Base, restated his belief that his election was God-ordained and actualised by the majority votes of the people.
He said his respect for Chief Segun Oni, a former chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), remained intact, urging the SDP candidate to join him in the development efforts in the state, having explored judicial processes available.
Hailing the judiciary for being professional and for ending the litigation, the governor thanked the people for their prayers during the judicial battle.
