Olarinoye wants Nigeria’s NADO to copy UK Anti-Doping policies

Dr. Ayodeji Olarinoye, a United Kingdom-based doping expert, has praised the efforts of Nigeria’s sporting authorities for establishing a National Anti-Doping Organisation (NADO).

According to Sportspro News, the University of Ilorin-trained medical doctor said as much after delivering a thought-provoking paper on anti-doping recently in the UK.

The former Golden Eaglet team doctor who was part of the team that won successive FIFA U17 World Cup in United Arab Emirate and Chile respectively in 2013 and 2015, said empowering NADO to fulfill its obligations, will go a long way in reducing doping cases amongst our athletes.

Olarinoye was a member of the team that deliberated agreement between the UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) and the British Association of Sports Medicine (BASEM) in Doncaster, United Kingdom.

A native of Omupo in Kwara State, Olarinoye believed NADO can follow on the footsteps of UKAD that is responsible for ensuring sports bodies in the UK are compliant with the World Anti-Doping Code through implementation and management of the UK’s National Anti-Doping Policy.

He suggested on improving the knowledge of athletes as well as support personnel s as it relates to doping across the globe.

Olarinoye , son of Dr. Steve Olarinoye who retired from the Federal Ministry of Sports , has attended many anti-doping conferences and seminars at major international tournaments and was the first Nigerian to be appointed FIFA Doping control officer for the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup.
