Twenty six fighters from seven African countries will be hustling for glory in the African Knockout Championship.
The event is powered by Kamaru Usman, former welterweight championship also known as the Nigerian Nightmare.
The contest hosted by African Knockout (AKO), Usman’s mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion company, is billed for Friday May 12 at SOL Beach by Box Mall, Victoria Island, Lagos.
At a press briefing held on Thursday, the company said the fight will include, for the first time ever, four women’s MMA fights in Nigeria.
It would also include exiting bouts between the biggest names within the African MMA industry.
“For the 2023 season of the face-off fight series, Uganda’s Bukunmi Lawrence will make his main event debut when he faces his opponent Emmanuel Umoren.

In the middle weight category. Emmanuel Christian will take on Ote Ayinor while Okuma Matayas will take on Musa Richard in what promises to be another classic heavy weight category.
In an interesting addition to the season’s fight, the event will feature, for the first time ever, four all-female MMA fight.
Ayodele Esther of Nigeria will take on her country woman Jane Osigwe, also from Nigeria in the first of the two all female bouts, while Nweke Vivian also from Nigeria, will square off against Juliet Chukwu in the night’s female fight.
Faceoff Fight Night 3 will be broadcast on SuperSport 2 on Gotv and SuperSport Variety 4 on DSTV. It will also stream live for the international audience on the “The AKO Show” YouTube channel
