The Management of Agidigbo FM, 88.7 Ibadan yesterday said the Federal Intelligence Bureau (FBI) of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) was making moves to re-arrest its chairman, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, over alleged Cyber bullying of Chief Rahmon Adedoyin.

The alarm followed an invitation letter dated May 19, sent by FBI, Abuja to the Ace Ibadan-based broadcaster.

Hamzat has been calling for justice over the death of Timothy Adegoke, a native of Eruwa, Oyo State who was until his death, a Master’s student at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

Adegoke was allegedly killed in a hotel in Ile-Ife, Osun State, owned by Chief Adedoyin.

Head of Station, Agidigbo Fm, Yusuf Adebayo, at a news conference in Ibadan, said the step became necessary because the invitation was obstructing operations of the radio station and even Hamzat’s duty as Chairman and other duties that he was committed to.

He said Police should refrain from inviting or arresting Hamzat pending determination of a case at the Appeal Court in Ibadan.

He described the recent invitation by Police as an attempt to override the rule of law, saying the invitation was similar to the one Hamzat received last year except for a change in the date of the letter.

“It was an invitation to meet at FBI, Abuja just like the previous one that was sent last year, there is no basis for it because the case is still at the Appeal Court but the Police said they are not aware.

“We are having this press conference today essentially to avoid a repeat of what happened in the last court sitting where in the judgment it was claimed that no news agency covered the arrest of Hamzat on 25th May 2022, no newspaper published it, and it wasn’t on any TV channel.  I personally appeared on TVC in this particular case.

“We live in constant fear of security agents showing up here and saying they want to take him away.

“A case was filed by Chief Adedoyin that Hamzat was harassing him through his consistent call for justice which he claimed has affected his business and family. The case went on and no substantial evidence was established against Hamzat.
