Associate Professor of Medicine at College of Medicine, University of Lagos (UNILAG), Dr. Ifedayo Odeniyi, has urged the Federal Government to invest more in education and sports, “as this will reduce number of out-of-school- children and enhance foreign exchange.”

The don spoke at the Ninth Annual Inter-House Sports Competition, organised by Headstart Private School, at Holy Saviour College Ground, Isolo, Lagos.

Odeniyi, father of the day, said: “Education should be our priority. Educating younger ones will curb vices. However, government cannot do it alone.

“Sport is a unifying factor, whenever sporting activity is going on, tribe, race and religion are forgotten.”

Director/Proprietress, Mrs. Obi Udenwa, said sport was a means of developing skills in younger ones and promoting physical development.

“This encourages healthy competition and promotes sportsmanship, which is further integrated into school activities, to produce all-round physically and mentally developed child,” she added.

The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) Chairman, Mr. Kingsley Ehighibe, noted the competition was a display of brilliance and excellence.
