A staff member of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Ilesha, Osun State, was injured yesterday in a fire that razed the station.
It was gathered that the staff was rushed to hospital while efforts were ongoing to put out the fire.
A source added that the fire started in a section where transmission equipment were kept before it spread to other parts.
“The incident happened in the early hours of Sunday. A section of the transmission hall was razed. Many broadcast equipments were destroyed. People in the neighbourhood heard a loud noise from the transmission hall and before the staff that slept on the premises got to the hall, it was already on fire. A staff was injured; he sustained burns and was rushed to a hospital.”
Spokesperson of the state Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident.
