Correction Boys shocked Safety Shooters 21-20 in one the yesterday’s games played at the Ardova Handball Premier League in Benin.
The high-flying Shooters, who are former champions, were favoured to win but suffered an unexpected defeated in the hand of the Correction Boys. The Correction Boys who had only one win before Sunday’s game, did everything right in a game few people gave them the chance to win.
They were solid in defence and made good of the scoring chances that came their way, while they also had the wayward finishing of the Shooters to thank for the famous win.
In the women’s category, Bayelsa Queens were the outstanding team yesterday as they defeated Benue Queen 29-20. The Yenagoa team were more confident in the game and their approach were different from their other games.
They were good in defence and the players performed more like a unit to win their second game in a row after suffering five defeats.
In other games in the men’s category, Tojemarine Academy beat Bendel Dynamos 33-19, Confluence Stars lost to Rima Strikers 25-21, while Niger United defeated Police Machine 31-16.
In the other women’s game, Plateau Peacocks fell to Rima Queens 23-17, Delta Queens lost to Defender Babes 19–26, while Safety Babes pummelled Seasiders Babes 42–29.
