Nigeria’s D’Tigers crashed out of the 2023 AfroCan following a 2-point loss to defending champions DR Congo in the quarterfinal in Angola.

The home based D’Tigers could not close the 12 points gap from the first quarter, eventually succumbing 74-72 to the Central Africans.

After a bad first quarter where their Congolese opponents took a 31-19 lead, D’Tigers improved in the subsequent quarters, with a 18-14 win in the second, 17-14 win in the third and 18-15 win margin in the final quarter but lost the game by two points.

This is the D’Tigers second appearance at the AfroCan, a men’s basketball continental competition in Africa open to all players who play for basketball clubs based on the continent.

D’Tigers finished second in Group A after an opening win against Mali and a loss to host Angola before defeating Gabon in the classification round to set up the quarter final clash with DR Congo.
