Niger state government has said that the Minna-Bida would be temporarily closed for urgent rehabilitation of the failed sections of the road.

According to the state Governor, Umar Mohammed Bago, the road would be closed on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

It would be recalled the recurring collapse of multiple cell culverts at chainage 62km from Minna which has plagued the road for approximately ten years.

This annual occurrence during the rainy season has caused significant hardship for motorists, often leading to road closures lasting a week or more for emergency repairs.

The closure of the road, according to Bago, would address the annual culvert collapse and prevent further incidents during the rainy season.

The alternative routes to be used included the Bida-Zungeru-Minna road and the Bida-Lapai-Minna road.
