Why Lafose festival is important – Ode-Remo monarchs

Traditional rulers in Ode –Remo, Ogun state have explained why the annual Lafose festival keeps attracting both local and foreign tourists.  The monarchs, Alaiye-Ode of Ode Remo, Oba Adetunji Amidu Osho, Oba Samuel Olatunji Kalejaiye, Nloku of Iraye and Oba Mukaila Akanji Olabinjo, Eleposo of Eposo, said the festival since inception decades ago, has remained a rallying point for all sons and daughters of the town. “It is always a time for us to come together and appreciate God and our forefathers for bringing us together as one people,” Oba Osho explained.

Speaking about the tourists who yearly throng the town to be part of the festival, the monarchs said “the festival is unique and interesting. Our people in Ode, Iraye and Eposo are extremely hospitable and friendly. People come because of the historical places and objects available in the towns.

They already know how old the festival is and are eager to experience all these things they’ve been told.” According to Oba Olabinjo, the grand finale of Lafose 2023 will take place at the foreground of the palace of the Alaiye Ode of Ode on Saturday August 5, 2023.
