The Founder/Chief Executive Officer of the African Foundation for Peace and Love Initiatives, Rev Titus Oyeyemi has advised the Federal government to embark on mass food production to cushion the effect of petrol subsidy removal.

Instead of the government’s abrupt removal of the petrol subsidy, the cleric advised that the government should embark on gradual removal of petrol subsidy so as to reduce the growing effect on the hapless citizens of the country.

Oyeyemi said this at the mid-year Prayer Programme organized by the African Children of Peace Club, (ACPC), an affiliate of the African Foundation for Peace and Love Initiatives (AFPL) held at TimeON KAIROS College, Egbeda, Lagos.

The programme tagged: ‘Interceding for Nigeria featured song rendition, prayers, and prophetic ministration.

According to him, the economic hardship unleashed by the removal of fuel subsidies is showing its impact, especially on the rural poor across Nigeria.

The cleric said Nigeria would have had nothing to lose if the petrol subsidy had been gradually removed, “but we have so much to lose if the subsidy is removed abruptly. Nigerians should not be punished for the sins of a few elites who had been milking Nigeria dry in the name of subsidy.”

He posited further that governments at all levels should invest in mass food production to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal and the global food crisis.

“Let us have mass production of food. The poor can still feed themselves. All the stable food today was at a time a solution to hunger. Foods such as noodles, and oath milk, were invented to combat hunger. In the next five years, let the government do mass production of food and make Nigeria food sufficient.”

He called on Nigerians to continue to pray for the nation, assuring Nigerians that Nigeria would arise and shine and every form of darkness will disappear.
