‘Olokun festival will promote cultural heritage’

Chief Host and Convener of the 2023 Olokun Festival, Dr. Lara Fashola, has assured attendees that this year’s edition will promote and strengthen the richness of the Yoruba culture.

Addressing reporters in Lagos, Dr. Fashola said the event, with the theme: ‘Entertainment is Culture,’ would hold on August 26 in collaboration with the Lagos State Government and Lagos Tourism.

According to her, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, would attend with other traditional leaders, cultural figures, foreign visitors and stakeholders from the public and private sectors.

She said the event would act as a hub for cross-cultural interaction, creating a greater understanding of Nigeria’s history and encouraging cooperation among communities.

The host said the theme highlights crucial relationship between the creative industries, including music, dance, storytelling and historic Yoruba history.

“This year’s edition seeks to promote and boost the richness of our people’s culture in a grand and remarkable manner. Our goal is to create an unforgettable celebration that will leave a lasting impact in the hearts and minds of everyone present.

“With a reputation for being one of the most significant cultural events in Nigeria, the 2023 Olokun Festival is expected to surpass previous editions in scope and impact.
