Chuba Akpom is hoping to make history with the Dutch giants Ajax in the new season.
The former Arsenal star was unveiled on Wednesday by Ajax after signing a contract until 2028 and the 27-year-old Nigeria-born Briton is expected to wear the special number 10 in Amsterdam.
“I’m happy to sign, definitely. Ajax is a top club with lots of history. It didn’t take long for me to decide. A special club, and I’m happy to be here”, Akpom said after his first official visit to the Ajax stadium.
Akpom described his deal to join Ajax as a fast one. “It was a pretty fast deal. There were some other clubs as well, but as soon as Ajax came, I had my mind sorted,” he added.

He admitted that wearing the jersey number 10 with Ajax legends like Hakim Ziyech, Davy Klaassen, Siem de Jong, Miralem Sulejmani, Albert Luque, Wesley Sneijder, Steven Pienaar, Rafael van der Vaart, was an honour.
“The kit looks very nice, stylish. It definitely fits me. I both like them”, the attacker said, who will take on Dusan Tadic’s number ten. “It’s an honour, number 10.”
“The changing room is very nice. It’s different because you can see the quality, you know,” he further said.
He was full of praise about the stadium too: “Sick man. I’m just imagining it, you know… fully packed. I do like the goals the most. The goals are always my favourite thing because of scoring.”
