It remains uncertain if the new Super Eagles invitee, Gift Orban, will be available for the 2023 African Cup of Nations Qualifying tie against Sao Tome and Principe on Sunday after he was subbed off barely 20 minutes after his second half introduction in Gent’s 2-1 home win over Club Brugge yesterday.
In a game his compatriot, Jordan Torunarigha played 90 minutes, Orban was introduced in the 64th minute as Tarik Tissoudali’s replacement but the former Stabaek forward was replaced again in the 84th minute by Ismael Kandouss as 10 man Gent managed to beat the former Belgian league champions before their fans.

It is still unclear if Orban will report to the Eagles camp and submit himself to further tests to know if the complaint that led to his early substitution will be enough to rule him out of the game.
Hyeon-seok Hong was the hero of the game with his sensational double in the 24th and 48th minutes while Hans Vanaken got what turned out to be a consolation goal in the 42nd minute.
The win has taken Gent to the top of the Jupiler League with 13 points after five games.
